Mid-Career

Mid-career GPs are a broad group and there is no universally agreed definition of the term. The Phoenix Programme considers mid-career GPs to include colleagues who are greater than 2 years post qualification through to those anticipating continuing in clinical practice for at least the next five years.

We have two main schemes of support and career development available currently.

For any mid-career colleague wishing to develop their career, to feel inspired and re-energised about their role and to develop new skills to take back to their place of work, we have partnered with Phoenix GP, a national organisation for a series of group training events.

We have also created mid-career PCN fellowship posts for colleagues wishing to undertake funded project work within their PCN. The fellowships start annually in October and run for 12 months. We are currently supporting our second cohort of 20 fellows with a further cohort planned to start in October 2023.
