New to Practice GP Educational Sessions

Next Dates

  • 27 July 2021 (7.15-9pm)

Lifelong learning is one of the pleasures of a medical career, but at times it can seem daunting and let’s be honest, sometimes it can feel like a tick box exercise to ensure that you are clocking up those hours.

Join us to explore how to get the most out of your CPD. This interactive evening event will include:

  • What CPD do you HAVE to do and how can you achieve this?
  • What counts as CPD? We will explore ‘non-traditional’ CPD sources such as podcasts, books, film
  • How best to record your CPD with tips to make this easier and work for you
  • Tailoring CPD to your own learning needs and how this might change during your career
  • Creating ‘Treat Days’ for yourself and others – by teaching and supervising students and colleagues we can help them to learn whilst deepening our own skills and knowledge

We will be joined by colleagues from the University of Nottingham to share how you can get involved with hosting medical students in your practice, an excellent opportunity for all New to Practice Fellows.

  • 24 August 2021 (2-4pm)

Summer is here…time to plan a trip, expand your horizons, meet new people and perhaps reluctantly address that ‘back to school’ feeling as August fades.

In our second Covid summer things remain unpredictable! Plans are made but often cancelled, options and opportunities can feel as though they have shrunk and it is harder to meet new people and grow networks. Covid does not curtail that ‘back to school’ feeling though! Let’s try to redress the balance and make the most of the summer vibes.

Please keep afternoon of August 24th 2-4pm free for a summer New to Practice CPD event. Details will be confirmed nearer the time, with the possibility of meeting outdoors in person if conditions allow.

Wherever we meet the afternoon will include:

  • Networking and Social time – chance to chat and get to know people
  • Welcome for new starters and welcome back to the existing fellows and a chance to meet each other
  • Opportunities for Q&A about the fellowship and the options and opportunities available for new starters
  • ‘What next’ forum for established fellows – catch up on progress with fellowship time, portfolio working and signposting
  • ‘Where next’ forum for everyone – personal growth, developing our peer group and building connectivity and sharing ideas for building our Nottinghamshire New to Practice Fellowships

CPD made easy and how to create ‘Treat Days’ at work!
