Practice Manager Development

Practice Managers have a key role in maintaining quality and redesigning care for the future. Yet they are also one of the most neglected parts of the workforce, receiving relatively little formal training or ongoing development. Many practice managers report feeling overburdened and isolated, and the most efficient ways of working are often slow to spread between practices.

Some further funding has been allocated to meet the following development needs of practice managers:

  • Practice Manager networking with a focus on the role of Practice Managers in supporting PCNs and Online Consultations.
  • Peer appraisal training for at least five practice managers.

As of October 2019, we have provided peer appraisal training to eight practice managers in Nottinghamshire and four in Bassetlaw. The appraisers will now be matched with other managers who wish to have a peer appraisal. The process will be evaluated by a senior appraiser and feedback provided by both parties.

In conjunction with Notts LMC, we have also provided sessions on PCNs and online consultations.
