Phoenix Programme: GP Educators Needed

10 June 2019

The Phoenix Programme is looking for GPs to help it develop and deliver its educational programme to trainees and newly qualified GPs.

We have set up an educational sub-committee to oversee these programmes and in time, we may also design educational sessions for other members of the primary care workforce including clinical pharmacists and social prescribers.

What is the Phoenix Programme?

The Phoenix Programme was set up in February 2019 to be a single point of access for workforce schemes in Nottinghamshire. Funds were allocated to four schemes to support trainees as they begin their career in general practice:

  • Preceptorship: includes a package of support of coaching and mentoring, support with finding GP roles and special interest placements, educational sessions and peer support groups.
  • Fellowship Lite: Offers GPs the opportunity of a paid placement in a speciality interest e.g. education, dermatology, gynae etc.
  • Special Interests: Offers GPs funding towards the cost of a diploma in a speciality area
  • Clinical Network Leaders: Offer support to the next generation of leaders

Who are we looking for?

  • 10+ years working as a GP
  • Demonstrable experience of working in GP/medical education, coaching and mentoring, clinical supervision, clinical leadership etc.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and delivering non-clinical educational sessions for newly qualified GPs and trainees
  • Supporting Fellowship Lite GPs as they develop their own interest in education
  • Developing and delivering non-clinical education sessions to other members of the primary care workforce

GPs will be reimbursed for their time by the Phoenix Programme.
